Free Bon Jovi Concert In Central Park

In an event that will likely vie with the Billy Joel concerts at Shea Stadium for the title of biggest summer event, Bon Jovi will play a free concert in Central Park. The concert will take play on July 12th at 8PM.

According to the official announcement on MLB.com, “No more than 60,000 fans will be allowed to attend the event, which Bloomberg said he hoped would be the largest concert in the history of Central Park’s Great Lawn.”

Concert goers must have a ticket to attend the event. Tickets will be distributed starting at 9AM on July 2nd at four locations throughout the city. This is going to be a super hot ticket so you might as well start camping out now if you want to pick some up.

Heathens Like Me, which was produced by the New Heathens, was recorded at Steve Earle guitarist, Yayhoo, songwriter, and uber-producer Eric “Roscoe” Ambel’s studio, Cowboy Technical Services, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. David Blaine Aquarium Stunt Finale

David Blaine intends to sleep with the fishes — but only for a week, and in full public view.

The 33-year-old magician will perform his latest stunt by living underwater for seven days and nights in a “human aquarium” in front of New York’s Lincoln Center.

He will conclude by attempting to hold his breath underwater longer than the record of 8 minutes, 58 seconds.

The finale of his latest stunt will air live in a two-hour ABC special on May 8 (8 p.m. ET).

Blaine’s previous feats of endurance include balancing on a small platform for 35 hours and surviving inside a massive block of ice for 61 hours, both of which were performed in New York. In 2003, he fasted for 44 days in a suspended acrylic box over the Thames River in London.

The “human aquarium” in which Blaine will float is a specially built 8-foot acrylic sphere. He will receive liquid nutrition through a tube and the water will be kept at a balanced temperature to help keep his core temperature close to 98.6 degrees F.

Passersby will be able to touch the aquarium, take pictures with Blaine and communicate with him. He will enter the sphere on May 1.

With bassist Duke and drummer John Hummel (Black Market Radio), Debra DeSalvo leads a true rock power trio, capable of ranging from dreamy to pounding within a single song. Her Hoboken Demo EP is “pure rock fudge…a modern jewel with a ’70s sound, an essential purchase for fans of real, intimate rock” (Mp3hardplay).

The EP’s opening song, “Welcome to the Boneyard,” was inspired by a trip through Ground Zero on the PATH train. Zen Guitar calls it “a love song sent back from beyond the grave, featuring beautiful stinging slide guitar reminiscent of later George Harrison.” Zen Guitar adds: “ ‘When It Comes Down’ shows off the power of Deb’s heartfelt vocals, from delicate and sweet to soaring over her muscular guitar. The EP rounds out with ‘All That I Need,’ an upbeat pop melody tightly arranged around close harmonies with a crowd-pleasing hook.” According to Chuck Eddy (The Village Voice), Hoboken Demo “does for her earlier Electric Goddess EP what ‘VH1 Classic Metal Mania: Stripped’ does for old hair-metal ballads–sometimes lying back can give you more energy.”

Deb contributed three songs to the award-winning Showtime movie about AIDS, Getting Off, starring Christine Harnos (ER, Dazed and Confused) and five songs, including the theme song “Take It Off,” to the Sundance Cable doc STRIPPED: Exposing the Business of Baring It All. Deb’s video for “Take It Off” is included on the STRIPPED DVD (Vanguard Cinema). Her book The Language of the Blues: From Alcorub to Zuzu (with a foreword by Dr. John) was published Jan. 28 by Billboard Books.

This free, citywide celebration is expected to entertain thousands of New Yorkers of all ages.
